Planets Gone Rogue! is an action / strategy hybrid in which heavily armored planets fight to the death in a 2D side view. Players must take control over their home planet's defenses to find the unknown source of an interplanetary attack. A round-based exploration mode allows to collect resources and improvements, which will increase the odds of survival in the real-time battle encounters with enemy planets. The game is currently available for Android devices and Flash.
The idea for this game was born out of frustration and anger about the situation in the mobile gaming. Unlike gaming in the early ages of the home computer, many developers don't even seem to try to make games they would actually enjoy themselves. Development is focused around business models that separate players into "whales" and "freeloaders" instead of asking questions like "How can I make a game that is fun to play?" Driven by the belief that it must be possible to create something worthwhile besides the beaten path of match-threes and flapping animals, One Man Band Games created several game prototypes that were abandoned for technical reasons or sinmply "not being fun". Planets Gone Rougue! was one of these prototypes, and since the core battle mechanics felt satisfying, One Man Band Games decided to take this idea and create a fully-fledged game out of it.
